One Day: Fige your life without artificiality
One Day: Fige your life without artificiality
As the name suggests, I share with you a normal day: whether it’s a simple moment of the day with one, two, three or the whole family, the children getting up, leaving for school, who knows the day at work and then coming back, homework, managing the household, the children, dinner, bedtime, taking the dog out at midnight… in short, your life. Without any artifice, without premeditation, just a pure reportage of what you really experienced in your daily life as a family. As your memories are and will always be.
It’s your life that’s being showcased. Discreetly, I insert myself into this daily routine with the aim of showing its true nature. Is the house cluttered? Yes, and so what if that’s the motto of the moment? Your son (or you yourself) spend all weekend in front of a computer while everyone else is out and about? Let’s show it! A friend drops by unexpectedly to have a drink? The story continues!
To capture these beautiful moments of complicity, these moments of life, that spontaneous side that inevitably comes out once you forget my presence, those looks that say it all, those complicities, those bursts of laughter… In fact, I immortalize them to create unforgettable memories.
I capture them with technique, a little art but above all a lot of insight. That’s exactly why I do this job and why it makes sense to me and why I love it. Knowing how to capture these moments in a suitable setting, whether literally or figuratively, is, in my opinion, a photographer’s know-how and the reason for their existence.
The daily newspaper’s documentary reportage is an art in itself: it is truly a reportage, a documentary. I am the journalist who witnesses an event that is not only factual but also with the art of photography, its technique and also its unexpected elements that can create wonders. My shots not only show images, snapshots of life, but also everything that «contributes» to that life: all those little details, complicit gazes, laughter and smiles, unposed images, and images that are somewhat stolen but immortalized forever, moments of life of no importance on that particular day – but that take on their full meaning with a little perspective, and that will make you tear up your eyes several years later.
Because life sometimes – often – holds less pleasant surprises in store for us, because water flows under bridges, because time marches on and never returns, because things are not immutable… it is in the order of things that moving forward in time is not it? But it is always important to remember the emotions that have shaped our journey, the journey of each one of us.
In the whirlwind of life and events that bombard us all day long, the daily stress of managing to forget the essential, it is often good and necessary to pause and look back on our journey. What could be better than looking at our family photos, those of our friends? Who hasn’t had moments of «pause» or «pause» to take some time to review these images of the past that bring us back to ourselves? These little mirrors of time, of life… It is said that each photo has its own life, that of before the photo was taken, that of the moment it was taken, and that of the time that has passed since then. But that only holds true if the image is good! It shows in the foreground the protagonists who are so valuable… and in the background all the myriad of details that we had all forgotten, lost in the whirlwind of time that passes by.
It is the very quality of photography, its absolute richness: it allows us to recall important moments, little things forgotten, faces lost from our sight. Who hasn’t been moved by seeing a photo of their own past? «Oh my God, all those hair styles, but what a terrible fashion!» «Oh my God, how could you still wear a teddy bear pajamas at 30 years old!!« »Oh my God, but how could you still wear a pajama outfit with a bunny head at 30 years old!! «Oh my God, did you see your brother’s head?» «Oh my God, it was really cool, actually, that farm» «What is that head?» «Oh, how little it was at that time, a little shrimp,» «LOL, look at that tie!» «Who was that?» “Oh! Look, that was Auntie…” and that is exactly the reason why I started working on photography and its art: for the memory, our reason for being and becoming, and to capture those essential moments forever.
The advantage of a daily reportage is that I am fully immersed, and fully capable of capturing these important, perhaps insignificant moments on the big day, but which take on such great value and importance after a few years. Daily reporting is like a dive for the photographer, albeit temporary – just for one unforgettable day thanks to indelible emotions that are forever etched in the photos – but which provides you with so many images and snapshots that you will cherish them for the rest of your life.
Take advantage of my experience as a reporter! I will use my experience to capture your story, whether it is in its early stages, under construction, or at its peak, with its ups and downs, its highs and lows, or even in happy days at the end of the day. Children grow up so quickly that it is important to capture some moments of their growth forever!
Images are passed down from generation to generation; they are of crucial importance as carriers of your values, your heritage, your history, whether familial, friendly or professional: they are yours, they are you, and your friends, your family; they are your documentary, the one that traces your being and your senses. I wish to make the best possible images of them; timeless, beautiful, rich and laden with meaning, symbols and values.
