Wedding at the Sologne Riding Stables

Pauline & Boris · 16 May 2026 · Chaumont-sur-Tharonne

On May 16th, I found Pauline and Boris again at the Horse stables of Sologne, In Chaumont-sur-Tharonne. A somewhat special wedding for me: a «return marriage». Boris serves in the same regiment as a groom I photographed the previous year, and it was through him that they came to me.

The electricity went off immediately, around a café for our first meeting. Then we prepared their day at their home, under the watchful eye of their cats. The cats weren’t at the wedding… but a little bit anyway, you’ll see.

The civil ceremony had taken place the day before. This Saturday, it was time for the religious ceremony, a ceremony of honor with sabers and an evening that I will remember for a long time.

Getting ready

A house full of people, witnesses who get excited, a little shot to give themselves courage. While Pauline prepares surrounded by her loved ones, Boris puts on his uniform and adjusts his helmet. Then comes the moment when they discover each other, and where the emotion takes over.

The ceremony

Direction Beaugency And Notre-Dame Church, the former Romanesque abbey on the banks of the Loire, just a stone’s throw from my home. The arrival of the procession, Pauline’s entrance, exchanging vows: a ceremony under magnificent stone vaults that I followed closely, forgetting myself in the process.

At the exit of Notre-Dame de Beaugency, Boris’s regiment’s comrades formed an honor guard of sabers. Képis, uniforms, flying petals, and a Coccinelle convertible waiting for the newlyweds: moments that not everyone gets to see every day.

Head to Les Écuries de Sologne, a stud farm from 1890 in the heart of a Solognote family estate. A place where I often photograph, with a team that has trusted me for years.

Champagne served to the highest standards, Pauline drinking in Boris’s chef hat, a vinyl record bar where everyone chose their own record, and that golden light at the end of the day that makes everything more beautiful. I also had the pleasure of reuniting with guests I already knew: that’s the magic of a return wedding.

The evening

For the entrance to the dinner, the guests had taken off their masks… of cats. The famous cats of Pauline and Boris were finally part of the festivities, even on the glasses. Then an fireworks display above the stables, a grand opening of the ball, and a dance floor that never failed to impress, led by Grégoire from SGC Évènements. The brainstorming with him in advance was brilliant: aligning the timing, the highlights, and the atmosphere together is a crucial element for a successful wedding. It was a crazy day, and a huge thank you to Pauline and Boris for their trust.
